GV II

Barn. Probably late C17 to early C18 with later alterations. Sandstone
rubble and brick plinth. Timber-frame with woven infill. Sandstone rubble
and weatherboards. Corrugated iron and Welsh slate roofs. Irregular plan
consisting of seven-bay range aligned roughly north-east/south-west with
three-bay addition at right angles to north-west and second three-bay addition
skewed eastwards from triangular bay at north-east end of main range. Two
levels. South elevation presents a rough crescent. Wagon entry with two-
leaved ledged doors two bays in from sandstone rubble left side. Second
opposed wagon entry also with two-leaved ledged doors to right of centre
of main range which has exposed woven infill to top row of panels above
weatherboarding. Attached to right of main range is three-bay part of
two storeys with exposed woven infill, three ledged doors and stable door
to right. North elevation has projecting three-bay weatherboarded projection
to right-hand side. Frame is three square panels high from cill to wall-plate
except for eastern two-storey part which has four panels. Interior has triple
angle struts to some trusses, the remainder have raking struts. (RCHM, Vol III,
p 135).
