trap house about 25 yards
east of Brook Farmhouse
GV II
Stable block forming one side of entry to farmyard. Circa 1866. Brick, tiled
roof with ridge ventilators and end stack. L-plan with cart horse stables
aligned north/south parallel with road and returning towards Brook Farmhouse (qv)
with loose box, trap house, stable and tack room range. One storey. West
elevation to farmyard: two stable doors to cart horse stables either side of
slatted opening; elevation to road is unfenestrated as is that of the neighbour-
ing stables attached to cow house and cow shelter (qv) at other side of entrance
to farmyard; north and south gables have matching thermal windows. West gable of
tack room facing Brook Farmhouse (qv) has central stack, 6-pane window to centre
right and a ledged door to the right. The loose box at the junction of the L-plan
projects southwards and presents a stable door towards Brook Farmhouse. Interior:
king-posts with raking struts to cart horse stables. Part of a model farmstead
complex, adjoining Brook Farmhouse (qv), reputedly built by the Eastnor Estate.
Included for group value as a complete example.
