Huby Old Hall
II
Cottage incorporating remains of Huby Old Hall. Mid C17 and C18. Earliest part:
long, narrow local red brick in English garden wall bond. Later work: red brown
brick in irregular bond with stepped eaves. Swept pantile roof and central ridge
chimney. Gable to road, 2 storeys. Gable end (earliest part): pilasters to each
side with cyma recta mouldings and beginning of gable above. C19 sash window to
ground floor. Two course 1st floor string and round arch to 1st floor with later
brick infill containing Yorkshire sash window. Side elevation: irregular
fenestration. Ground floor windows under segmental recessing arches. End door.
Interior: beamed ceilings. Former home of William Wakefield (architect of Duncombe
Park).
