House, 1810. Finely-coursed tooled-and-margined sandstone with
ashlar dressings. Slate roof with stone copings and stacks.
Entrance front 2 storeys, 3 bays. Plinth, alternating V-jointed
quoins, first floor band. Later C19 gabled porch to left of
centre. 12-pane sashes with lintels carved as false voussoirs,
projecting cills. Central tall round-arched stair window with
V-jointed voussoirs and interlaced glazing in head. Dentilled
eaves cornice and blocking course. Paired end chimneys with
conjoined cornices. Right return blank except for off-centre
6-panel door, with patterned overlight, up 6 moulded steps. Flanking
blank window-sized panels with lintels as on front. Rear elevation
4 bays: 12-pane sashes with similar lintels rising to first-floor
band.
Interior: good doors of 6 beaded panels in architraves throughout;
marble chimneypiece with corner paterae in drawing room. Window
shutters throughout; staircase, with stick balusters and shaped
tread ends, rising to attic. Moulded cornice, ceiling panels and
roses in hall and staircase. Moulded cornice with rose-and-palmette
pattern in dining room. Enriched segmental arch over passage.
