House. C16 and C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay
tiles and grey slate. 3 bays aligned NW-SE with axial chimney stack, mid-C16.
At SE end, large entrance range forming an L-plan, with end chimney stacks, late
C18. In N angle, loggia with lean-to roof, early C19 now walled in. Ancillary
range to NW, C18. 2 storeys. Symmetrical SE elevation, half-glazed door in
pedimented porch with 2 columns and 6 stone steps. 2-storey splayed bays to
either side and splayed bay above. Ground floor sashes of 4-12-4 lights with
early glass. First floor sashes of 4-16-4 lights each side and 4-12-4 lights in
middle. Dentilled cornice, hipped roof of low pitch. The rear range has a
blocked door with Tudor doorhead in the SW wall, chamfered beam and joists with
step stops, moulded mantel beam, and in the NW end 2 unglazed windows with 4 of
8 diamond mullions in situ. The loggia has stone columns with capitals of
Corinthian-derived style, now partly in the walls. RCHM 3.
