Smithy to rear of No 11 The Green

II

Smithy now plumber's store. Early C19. For the Thorp Arch estate. Coursed,
squared magnesian limestone, stone slate roof. Single storey, 3 x 1 bays.
West side away from road has shoeing bay on right with old boarded doors set
beneath eaves; to left is a later external brick chimney breast with slot in
right return (for heating wheel rims) and small chimney shaft rising above
the eaves; further left is an old 2-light casement with glazing bars beneath
flat arch; stone end stack on left raised by a battered brick shaft.
Roadside elevation: blind central door with flat arch; blind window on left
with projecting sill and flat arch; 3-light horizontally-sliding sash with
glazing bars on right in widened opening with projecting sill and flat arch.
Interior: not inspected; said to retain its hearth.
