House, c.1840, extended c.1960. Timber framed, stucco, roofed with slate.
2 parallel ranges aligned approx. E-W with full length corridors on both floors,
entrance at W end, reception rooms to S of corridor with central chimney stack,
service rooms to N of corridor with 2 internal chimney stacks. External chimney
stack at W end of S range, disused and terminated at eaves level. 2 storey
extension to N of E end, c.1960. 2 storeys. W elevation, central flat-roofed
porch, 6-panel flush door with plain fanlight in round arch. To N, one double-
hung sash window of 6 lights, mid-C19, with external louvred shutters. To S,
external stack as already reported. First floor, central window of 8 lights
with round-arched head, and to N one sash window as on ground floor. S (garden)
elevation, 4 french windows with external louvred shutters, early C19. First
floor, 4 double-hung sash windows of 6 lights, mid-C19, with external louvred
shutters. Stucco marked to imitate stone blocks. String course at first floor
level. Hipped roof of shallow pitch. All chimney stacks have vertical slots
between flues, and are cement rendered. The owner reports that originally there
was a tented canopy on this elevation. Octagonal chimney pots from the house
re-used as garden features. SW ground floor room has ceiling with moulded
border of acanthus design. SE ground floor room has moulded border of anthemion
and egg-and-dart design. On first floor at E end of corridor, shallow arch
supported on brackets of Corinthian design.
