Farmhouse. C17, empty at time of survey (November 1985). Squared and coursed
limestone, stone slate roofs, some coped gables. L-plan, possibly of two
builds, set against slope of ground. Two storeys and attic; main porch is away
from present approach, in late C19 ashlar porch extension, with C20 glazed door
under gable with cross saddle; behind this a main gable with flanking ashlar
stacks and having 2-light chamfered mullion casements with hood moulds, and in
set-back gable a 2 and 3-light recessed chamfer mullion casement under extended
hood moulds; extreme right is outshut with swept down Welsh slate roof. Return
right has gable with large ashlar blocks, with one blocked attic light over two
single recessed chamfer lights, all with stopped hoods, over a 2-light casement
with iron stanchion bars and no glazing. Wing set well back has two 4-light
casements with king mullion recessed chamfer mullions above a plinth with open-
ing to a basement. At right angles to this a front with cross gable have three
2-light casements under hood moulds, and at ground floor, a small light to the
left. Return gable to right has 2-light casements at attic and first floor,
over a C20 door, with signs of an earlier lean-to. Back has large external
stepped stack with blocked oval light, and a later second stack with some
brick. Otherwise this elevation plain. Deep chamfered and stopped beam in east
wing; a stone spiral stair remains in south wing, and one deep bressummer fire
visible, but interior not entirely accessible. One of an important group of
early farms in the parish.
