Bank. 1901, dated on central gable, by V.A. Lawson. Rock-faced
coursed masonry on plinth with flush stone quoins and dressings,
stone slate roof to front, slate roof to rear, with coped verges,
large ashlar end and ridge stacks with offset. Single front range
and long rear wing, 3 storeys. Asymmetrical front with 6 windows.
Three small coped gables with kneelers and 2-light stone mullion
and transom through eaves, small 2-light stone mullion to far left.
First floor has five 2-light stone mullion and transom with square
hoodmould and relieving arch, that in bay 5 from left being on
projecting gabled 2-storey porch. Single pointed arch light in
gabled oriel window in bay 3. Ground floor has similar single
light below, and three 4-light stone mullion and transoms with
square hoodmould and relieving arch. Doorway to far left slightly
projecting with arched hoodmould. Main doorway in porch with
similar hoodmould and enriched carved jambs. Studded plank doors
to both. Forms good group with No 12 High Street (q.v.) to left,
and Gloucester House, Market Place (q.v.) to right.
