Orangery. Early C19 and late C19. Probably by S.P. Cockerell for
Warren Hastings. Ashlar, leaded and slate roofing. Rectangular
plan with semi-circular bow windows at front far right and far
left. Similar projections at rear right and left with blind
windows. Curving walls run back from projections at rear each
terminating in a small turret. Later C19 lean-to extension at rear
of main body. Main body; one storey, 7 bays across facade between
bow windows. Triangular pediment over central 3 bays decorated
with carved rosette in low relief. All tall pointed-arched
windows with Gothick glazing within pointed-arched surrounds
flanked by engaged pilasters with engaged crocketed finials.
Central window extended down to form doorway, similar doorways at
either end of building. Battlemented parapet with crocketed
finials. C19 panelled door within 4-centred arch through each
curved wall at rear, similar doorways to turrets. Battlemented
parapets to walls and turrets.
