Barn, cowhouse, cartshed and granary over: early to mid C18, early
C19. Barn timber-framed, butt-jointed boarding, on roughly-
squared rubble stone plinth: cowhouse brick rear wall, open front,
timber posts; cartshed random rubble stone, Flemish-bond brickwork
above. All roofs tiled. L-plan group, barn with porch, 6-bay
cowhouse at right-angles, cartshed at end. Barn facade to yard;
double boarded door to left of centre, small door in right half;
plinth on right 1.4m high, timber-framing above, probably
original boarding, vertical jointing of boards. Left ground
drops, top of plinth and wall above as on right: door cut in
plinth, 3 slit air vents. Right return, later door on left:
shuttered opening gable, boarding as main face.
Interior: stone paved threshing floor, leading to porch opposite:
brick sill walls each side, timber top, braces to main wall posts:
opening on right only, at yard end. Timber-framing 3-panel high,
wind braces nailed: 2 bays on left, floor sunk, 3 on right, end 2
later loft, stair access; shafting for driving barn machinery
remains below. Collar and angle-strut trusses, on main posts only
at gables and threshing floor, otherwise on wall plate, stud
under in top panel only. Two pairs purlins, ridge plank. On
left 6-bay cowhouse, open front, timber posts on stone bases;
king-post trusses. At end 3-bay cartshed, stone wall to yard,
brick first floor, dentil eaves, doorway in centre in dormer,
boarded cheeks and gable: steps up missing, door boarded with cat
hole. Left return ground lower, open to cartshed, central timber
post, repeated inside. First floor boarded timber-framing,
boarded door and shuttered window. Lean-to to barn on left not of
special interest. A C18 barn with later related farm buildings
forming a good and little altered group.
