Classical marble monument to Dame Olivia Smith, d. 6th Jun 1710, daughter of Thomas Pepys of Merton Abbey, Surrey. The Arms are Smith quartered with Heriz, 1 and 4 Gules, on a chevron argent, three crosses patee fichee sable, between as many bezants. 2 and 3 Azure, between a fess argent, three urcheons (hedgehogs) or. Escutcheon of pretense, for Pepys, Sable on a bend or, between two horses heads erased argent, three fleurs-de-lys of the field. The monument is a moulded pedestal with 2 crests, carrying 2 Corinthian columns with full entablature and crested segmental pediment, all enclosing an inscribed tablet. (Photo Jun 2007).
