Above the tower arch, the Royal Arms of George III in 1777, before he gave up the claim to the Crown of France. Quarterly 1, Three lions passant gold on red for England impaled with a red lion rampant on gold for Scotland. 2 Three fleurs de lys gold on blue for France. 3 A lady proper-coloured gold harp with silver strings all on blue for Ireland. 4 In three parts - 1- Two gold lions passant on red for Brunswick. 2 Blue lion rampant on gold spotted with red hearts for Luneberg. -3- White running horse on red for Westphalia. In the middle a small red shield with a coronet for the Elector of Hanover.
