6/1 Clock House and Stables
GV II
Stable courtyard, 1872, now house and stables, forming a long L-plan.
Coursed square rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roof. Main range runs
E.W., 2 storeys, 9 bays (2-2-5) with projecting pedimented gable left of
centre, containing new porch and window to ground floor, 2 sash windows with
stone flat-arched heads above, and a clock in the gable. Behind it is a
double stack, containing a bell between the shafts. Left and right of this
gable, various windows with stone heads. Left of this range and attached
to it, a long single storey block of stables with stone heads to openings.
The north-south range is also 2 storeyed and has a colonnade of blank
arches to the ground floor, containing segmental arched openings. Various
windows and a loft entry above. Lower hipped bay to south, bearing date
stone.
