Rectorial tithe barn. C16. Timber frame on chamfered red brick sill,
dark weatherboarded with steep pitched roof now slated. A tall 6-bays
barn now entered by S gable in Parsonage Place. Jowled posts and
unjowled posts at mid-bay. Deep slightly curved double braces from post
to tie-beam. 2 clasped-purlins to each slope, both with straight or
slightly curved wind braces making a narrow angle with the principal.
Long lower collar with queen-struts below purlin carries queen-struts to
upper collar. Strainer beams inserted between upper purlins at mid-span.
Edge-halved scarf joints in wallplates each with long face-peg. Unique
in this area for use of double braces to tie-beam.
