1869 by Henry Styan of Manchester and James Farrar, Borough Surveyor. Neo-Gothic. 4
stone piers in the form pinnacles of generous proportions with gables and shallow
buttresses on each face. Elaborate carving by Mr Bonehill of Manchester, including
angels holdings inscribed scrolls below gables of inner piers, which are larger.
Central double gates and flanking single ones continue the Lancet head design of
the railings surmounting the quadrant walls to each side, which are of coursed rubble
with peaked coping. (BURY TIMES: 22.5.1869).
