Early C18. Originally a coaching inn. Early to mid C19 alterations. No. 1 has
roughly coursed dressed stone gabled garden(s) front of three storeys. 3-light
flat-mullioned window in gable; early C19 flush windows with later C19 sashes to ground
and first floors. Left-hand return front is in two builds of brick. Circa 1840-50
extension to street side (N). No. 3 has rendered 2-storeyed garden front, a
C1840-50 recasing of the earlier structure. Three windows with c1900 casements; flat grooved
voussoir keyed arches to ground-floor French windows. To left, enclosed by modern
glazed porch, is original early to mid C18 doorway with eared architrave, large
keystone and heavy cornice. Between nos. 1 and 3 on garden side is lower 2-storey link
with large delicately detailed early C19 tripartite bow window with glazing bar sashes,
panelled dividing pilasters and dentilled cornice. Street front of C1840-50 has
four sash windows with glazing bars. INTERIOR of No. 3 has ground floor front room to
right with mid C18 fielded panelling and entablation to door with delicate carved
spray. Screen wall on street side is of early to mid C18 brick on stone plinth.
