The fifth hatchment on this wall is that of a woman, Wilhelmina (died 1847) the wife of Sir William Earle Welby, 2nd Bt - displaying the arms of Welby with, in pretence, the one of Spry, because she was the daughter and heiress of William Spry, Governor of Barbados and alone of all the hatchments does not include the Welby crest -an arm in armour holding a sword, issuing from a cloud and flames- for a woman would not wear a helmet or a crest, but ribbons.
