The late C13 north aisle has been widened C15. The original line of the roof slanted more steeply, from the apex down to the white lichen near the top of the buttress. A wedge shape can be discerned, above the half ordered C13 courses, that has less order to it. The footings confirm the C13 size: there is a twin band of red granite blocks and grey, coal-measures limestone. The right hand limit of these shows the C13 width of the aisle. At the bottom is another block of oolitic limestone with paired incircled crosses: perhaps the 1887 restorers placed it for ventilation. (Photo Apr 2009).
