GV II
Detached farmhouse. C16 and later. Roughcast rendering probably on cob; thatched roof with plain gables; brick end
chimney stacks. Single-storey with attics, 3 bays. Casement windows of early pattern, those to upper storeys probably
leaded originally, with iron opening lights; 4-light casement to lower bay 1 has small-pane glazing, and to upper bay 3
a 3- light chamfer-mould timber framed window; to lower bay 2 an early C20 part-glazed door with slim sidelight, and
another boarded door in heavy frame bay 3; between these doors a boxed pump with cast iron spout and wooden handle.
Attached to west gable a range of outbuildings, of which the main section is roofed with corrugated iron, probably
replacing thatch; a lean-to portion on the centre front is of stone with a Welsh slate roof, and a further continuation
of the main building, in stone, has a double Roman clay tile roof. Interior not seen, but reported are two types of
chamfered crossbeam, one with heart-stops, wide west gable fireplace (concealed) with former curing chamber, stud and
panel partitioning, and two types of roof truss, jointed cruck and collar truss. (VAG Report, SRO Unpublished,
1972).
