GV II

Bridge. 1909, by A. T. Davis, County Surveyor. Reinforced concrete.
Single segmental span with panelled spandrels; chamfered string; each
parapet has a rounded coping and panelled rectangular piers with pyramidal
caps. Central blank panels on the outside of each parapet. The parapets
are angled back at each end. The bridge is an early example of reinforced
concrete construction and is of the portal frame type with the deck
rigidly attached to the abutments. The bridge carries the B 4387
Minsterley-Westbury road over a tributary of the Rea Brook. A plaque
said to be on the bridge and recording its date and designer was not
noted at the time of survey (September 1985). Anthony Blackwall,
Historic bridges of Shropshire, Shropshire Libraries and Highways and
Transport Department, Shropshire Country Council (1985), p. 83.
