Farmhouse. In 2 main parts. Early C17 2-cell rear range; early C19 front
block forming L-shape plan. Mainly timber framed with textured render. Rear
range has substantial side walls of English bond brickwork to ground floor,
rendered as remainder or faced in C19 colourwashed brick. Plaintiled roof. 2
storeys with attic to rear. 3-bay front, the windows not evenly spaced:
sashes with glazing bars except for a mid C20 standard casement to lower left.
Gabled porch with pierced scalloped bargeboards; mid C20 door. Rear range has
axial stack with C19 shaft at junction with front range. C19 gable stack. To
south, various C20 casements; C19 6-panel fielded door and a half-door. To
north, a C17 gabled addition and one-storey lean-to, the main roof continuing
over the latter. Interior. Most of the structure concealed. Bridging beam in
main ground floor room has ornate stop-chamfers. Open fireplace. C18-early
C19 doors. Original roof: clasped and butt purlins, 2-way arched wind-
bracing. North addition has exposed first floor framing with heavy reverse-
curved braces and a clasped purlin roof. The rear wing is built over a
section of infilled medieval moat.
