Former farmhouse. C16, in 3 phases. Timber framed and plastered, thatched
roof. 3-cell form. 2 storeys. Various small casement windows of C19 and
C20. One glazed-over diamond-mullioned window to upper left, partly renewed.
To right is a C20 pantiled lean-to entrance porch with side door. Stack has
rendered shaft and 1980's red brick cap. Mid C20 one-storey rear additions.
Interior. The frame is in 3 bays, each of a different date. Service end to
left is the earliest, perhaps early C16, with very heavy plain joists and one
blocked diamond-mullioned window on upper floor at rear. Hall has chamfered-
joist ceiling and full-height studding with long curved braces; remains of
cross-entry doorways and evidence for diamond-mullioned windows. The stack in
this bay is a later insertion and was preceded by a timber flue. Intact open
fireplace in hall. In the parlour cell, plain joists set flat, complete first
floor framing with arched corner bracing and 2 blocked windows with heavy
diamond mullions. Wind-braced side purlin roof over service end, the
remainder of the roof timbers concealed.
