4, The Ten Cottages

Wash-house. 1848. Probably designed by Edward Blore, for Earl Spencer. Ironstone
ashlar front, with red brick to sides and rear. Slate roof with coped gable
parapet and kneelers; brick ridge stack with two C20 square shafts. Tudor style.
One storey; one-window range. Gable to front. Large 3-light wood mullioned
window has central transom in chamfered opening with alternating block surround
and hood mould. Return sides have plank doors under brick segmental arches.
Lower brick range to rear. Interior not inspected. Included for group value.
