Mid-late C18. 3 storeys and attic, colour-washed brick, left hand end with quoins,
off-set eaves courses, half-hipped old tile mansard roof. 5 dormer windows,
centre gabled. A 7 bay front with central entrance on 1st floor approached
by flight of concrete steps with plain wrought-iron railings, the lower
ones twisted. 2 entrances on ground floor in slight wall thickening and
with moulded brick cornices over, the left hand one now a window in segmental
relieving arch, the right hand one a plain door above which a datestone
has been set in (1655 T W).
The river block is flanked by 2 wings.
Left hand wing: older, 2 storeys, 1st floor clad in corrugated iron with four 2-light
small pane casements, the ground floor has a wide central entrance and to
left a Venetian-type small pane window in slight recess; traces of timber-framing
in left hand end.
Right hand wing: circa 1800 tall gault brick 3 storey block of 6 bays.
Segmental-headed windows 2nd floor, round-headed on ground and 1st floors
with radiating glazing and small panes. Modern lift or drying tower in
angle of centre and left parts.
Quadrangle closed to south-east by canteen wing - mid C19 2 storey red and
gault brick 7 bay structure with sawtooth eaves cornice to quadrangle.
