Cottage, mid C19, one of a pair with Clydfan, not marked on 1845 Tithe map. Ystumtuen was a lead-mining settlement with four mines around, the oldest in existence in 1705.
Cottage at left end of short row, a mirrored pair with Clydfan to right. Painted rubble stone with slate eaves roof and two chimneys at left end, one each side of ridge, the front one stone, the rear one rendered. Two storeys and attic, two bays with 12-pane hornless sash each floor to left, the upper one smaller. Stone voussoirs to ground floor, brick above, and slate sills. To right is added stone gabled porch with board door 4-pane overlight and glazed triangle in apex. Small window to left side wall. Broad left gable end, painted with overhanging verges. Central attic window a 4-pane casement with triangular glazed head and V-tracery. Door to first floor left, half glazed with slate steps up.
Not available for inspection.
Included as one of a pair of cottages in late Georgian style, probably associated with lead-mining.
