C18 sundial. Probably installed as part of the improvements to the estate which were thought to be under the direction of Mary Trygarn, mother of Holland Griffiths, owner of the estate at that time.
Octagonal sandstone sundial, set on a square pillar with fluted sides. The face of the dial is slate and retains the weathered figuring, including the name of the maker: Whitstable & Sons. The gnomon is of brass.
Included as a fine C18 sundial, a distinctive feature in the garden of Carreglwyd.
