History

C18 folly/lookout tower. Probably built as part of the improvements to the estate which were thought to be carried out under the direction of Mary Trygarn, mother of Holland Griffiths, owner of the estate at that time.

Exterior

Stone steps lead up to a circular viewing platform. Low rubble wall with roughly embattled coping.

Reasons for Listing

Included as an early C18 folly, which provided a viewing platform over Holyhead harbour. Contemporary with the remodelling of the adjacent house at Carreglwyd and the development of the ancillary estate buildings of the early C18.
