B group comprises Nos 40 and 46 Lauriston Street. Although these buildings look earlier, they do not appear on maps until 1851.
Individual estates to the west and south of the West Port (originally Portsburgh) began to be developed from the late eighteenth century onwards. Lauriston Street appears laid out on Kincaid's map 1784. The tenement at 40 Lauriston Street is first visible on the Ordnance Survey map of 1851.
