Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society Ltd Architects Department, 1935. 4-storey 3-bay Art Deco former drapery warehouse extension. Predominantly coursed ashlar to principal elevation and brick to other elevations. Profusion of eclectic Art Deco band courses dividing storeys to principal elevation. Bays divided by stylised pilasters, recessed openings. Stepped parapet.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: ground floor obscured to form modern shop front.
6-pane metal-framed windows.
INTERIOR: not seen (2004).
A distinctive Art Deco facade in an area which has changed dramatically within the last 50 years. Buildings of Scotland names the architect from SCWS as Cornelius Armour. Built as an extension to the Kinning Park Co-operative Society Drapery Warehouse which was originally adjacent to the N but has now been demolished.
