Mid 19th century with ground floor bank inserted and 1st
floor recast 1888, probably by J J Burnet, 4-storey 3-bay
tenement, ashlar front, rubble rear. 2nd and 3rd floor
windows in architraves, outer with mullions. Cornice and
blocking course with cut down wallhead stacks. Modern roof
and sash windows.
Ground floor: 6 paired granite Ionic columns (a further 2 are
missing). Fine wrought-iron gate to No 67 partially obscured
by fascia. 1st floor channelled ashlar Ionic full and demi
pilasters, small bas-relief panels, 2 cross and 1 transomed
window, symmetrically aligned.
Interior: fine domed banking hall with balustrade, elaborate
plaster cornice, pilasters and wood panelled doorways.
Rear: brick flying buttresses.
Former South Branch of the Savings Bank of Glasgow.
