H V Eaglesham, 1895-6. Late 19th century. 6-bay rectangular-plan former classical Masonic Hall. Polished red ashlar. Base course; ground floor cill course; central band course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course; double pilasters rising from ground floor cill course framing 2nd and 6th bays; strip pilasters divide bays within; banded rustication within; Ionic capitals; architraved openings.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: pedimented entrance to outer left; banded columns; Ionic capitals; key-stoned arch; steps to 2-leaf timber door within; 4 windows aligned above, elongated window to right; single window to right at ground floor. Steps to 2-leaf timber door to outer right. Regular fenestration to remaining bays at ground and basement openings; rises at blocking course to form 4 semi-circular openings to right.
Modern windows and Dutch canopies. Grey slate piend roof.
INTERIOR: altered to accommodate night-club; compartmental ceiling.
Former Masonic hall, currently in use as a night-club, notable for its use of strong classical detailing and dominating height in Nile Court.
