Square Cenotaph-like ashlar pink sandstone monolith, tapering neck with corniced coping stone: laurel collar with wreath on N face. Name plaque inscribed on each face. Standing on large octagonal rubble pedestal, with plaques on S faces and ashlar balustrade. Steps from N to S encircle pedestal, with retaining rubble wall, ashlar coping and balustrade.

Statement of Interest

The Memorial cost approximately $2,000 and was unveiled by Lady Stratheden on 11th December 1921. Unusual in form, akin to monolith of Lutyens's London Cenotaph.
