Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 2-bay rectangular plan house with shop at gorund. Painted, coursed sandstone, moulded ashlar margins.

NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: ground floor bay to right converted to shop premises, pilastered, corniced 19th century shop front, window above, bay to left windows at ground and 1st floor.

NE ELEVATION: gable end.

SW ELEVATION: attached to No 56.

4-pane timber sash and case window, large plate glass to shop front, grey/green slate, rendered gablehead stack to NE, brick stack to SW.

INTERIOR: much altered to accommodate shop.

Statement of Interest

Formerly a Post Office, posting box survives in NW wall. Part of Harbour Street B Group, Nos 40-58.
