Possibly John Gordon and/or Thomas Baird. Built 1891/92. 2-storey 3-bay villa with renaissance details, shallow canted outer bays linked by balustraded Ionic porch; canted bays with pilasters at ground, 1st floor windows all have Ionic half-pilasters overlapped by architraves. Polished yellow ashlar with sculptured detailing; slate and finialed roof. Sash windows with leaded upper panels; main cornice; corniced
end stacks. Single storey wing right with offices, low square porch, pedimented screen to rear courtyard.
Ashlar boundary wall, 2 pairs square gatepiers.
Built for John Scouller, proprietor of the Horseshoe Bar in Drury Street. Has certain stylistic similarities to John Gordon's contemporary villa at 371 Albert Drive/50 Dalziel Drive. Thomas Baird was Gordon's assistant and, later, partner. Additional information courtesy of Iain Paterson, Glasgow City Council.
