Description

A and W Reid. 1869. Tall Renaissance palazzo, built
for Elgin Club. 2-storey, 4-bay; ashlar, channelled at
ground floor, rusticated quoins at 1st; rubble
flanks. Door with moulded architraves and console
bracketted cornice in right hand bay, 3 keystoned
windows to left. Tall round-headed windows 1st floor in
aedicules with blind balustrades; 4-pane glazing. Cill
course, frieze and deep mullioned cornice; die parapet
originally surmounted by 5 urns. 2 later swept dormers;
coped end stacks; slate roof.
INTERIOR: enriched plaster ceilings within; domed billiard
room at first floor.
