Description

Circa 1880. 4-storey tenement with Baronial details; shops at ground floor. Squared and snecked cream sandstone with contrasting polished dressings. Base course; corbel table at 3rd floor stepped down to form segmental-arched hood to 1st floor window at W elevation; chamfered reveals; 3rd floor windows breaking eaves in pediments.

S WARRENDER PARK ROAD elevation: 6-bay including angle tower. Advanced shopfronts clasping angle at ground to outer left. 3-stage circular-section angle tower; fishscale conical roof; semi-circular pedimented dormer;iron weathervane finial. Roll-moulded doorways in 3rd and 5th bays; panelled doors; plate glass fanlights; single windows above; semi-circular pediment in 3rd bay. Full-height canted window corbelled to square at gablet-crowstepped gablehead; floral patera set in gablehead. Full-height advanced tripartite window with curvilinear gable in 6th bay. Single windows above shopfront in 2nd bay; semi-circular pediment.

W MARCHMONT ROAD elevation: 2-bay. Advanced shopfronts at ground. Full-height canted window above, corbelled to square at crowstepped gablehead; blank heraldic shield set in gablehead. Single windows in remaining bay; semi-circular pediment. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; gabled round-arched timber dormers to S and W; 3 and 5 flue corniced wallhead stacks to W; coped mutual gable to S; coped and rendered end gable stacks; scroll skewputts.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.
