Description

Circa 1880. 4-storey, 7-bay corner tenement block with corner tower and Baronial details. Squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; cornice and corbel table above 2nd floor; corbel table stepped down to 2nd floor in 5th bay; eaves string course; panelled doors; plate glass fanlights; 3rd floor windows breaking eaves; chamfered reveals.

S WARRENDER PARK ROAD elevation: 7-bay including corner tower. Roll-moulded doorways with single windows flanking to right in 2nd and 4th bays; single windows above; semi-circular dormerhead in 2nd bay; pedimented dormerhead in 4th bay. Doorway with chamfered arrises in 5th bay; single windows above; semi-circular dormerhead. 4-stage circular-section tower breaking eaves, with 3 lights to each stage in bay to outer right; pilastered and semi-circular pedimented dormer set in fishscale conical roof; cornice brakcetted beneath dormer; iron weathervane finial. Full-height canted window, corbelled to square at crowstepped gablehead in 3rd bay.Full-height gabled tripartite window in 1st bay. Single windows in 6th bay; pedimented dormerhead.

E MARCHMONT CRESCENT elevation: corner tower to outer left (see above). Circular-section with fishscale conical roof to outer right. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced wallhead stack to S; truncated and coped wallhead stack to W; 2 round-arched dormers with timber gables to S; stone finials to dormerheads; scroll-bracketted skewputts.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

Low saddleback wall to streets.
