Description

Built by 1780. Irregular 3-storey and attic, 4-bay tenement on corner site. Coursed rubble. Common stair door and windows to centre left bay; pair of bipartites to left bay at ground, shop to right. 2 large box dormers. Return gable with windows at centre and single bay wing to N.

Timber 12-pane sash and case windows (some plate glass). Ashlar coped skews; rendered stacks; grey slates.

INTERIOR: not seen 1995.

Statement of Interest

A Group with 21-25 (odd nos) Frederick Street and 55-67 (odd nos) Rose Street as as a significant surviving part of the original fabric of Edinburgh?s New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain. Shop at No 25 Frederick Street (see separate listing) extends into this building at ground.
