Built by 1780. 3-storey and attic, 2-bay public bar and brewery in former tenement on corner site. Coursed rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings; rendered at ground. Tripartite windows to Rose Street;
3 box dormers with individual slate-hung balconies. Broad 4-bay return gable. Irregular 4-storey 3-bay rubble rear elevation.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Ashlar coped skews; rendered stacks; grey slates.
INTERIOR: not seen 1995.
A Group with 59-67 (odd nos) Rose Street as a significant surviving part of the original fabric of Edinburgh?s New Town, one of the most important and best preserved examples of urban planning in Britain.
