Early 18th century. Double chambered, 2-stage lectern dovecot converted to residential, circa 1975. Rubble sandstone with squared dressings; rat course, cill course to 2 pointed arch flight openings to S and to later square-headed insertions. Crowstepped skews. 2 doors to S (boarded doors). Various square windows to E, W and N elevations and further door to N. Grey slate roof with lead course mid pitch with row of flight-holes.

The Newliston dovecot was described by Niven Robertson as "the most commodious dovecot in Scotland". It contained 2,663 nesting boxes.
