Description

Late 18th/early 19th century. Town house with classical
details. 3 storeys with basement, 3 bays–the inner bay
advanced and pedimented–mid 19th century additional
shallow recessed outer bays a storey lower. Painted droved
ashlar, ground floor architraves, margins and rusticated
quoins. Steps to good circa 1840 central porch with square
monolithic columns and bracketted entablature, original
consoled doorways underneath. Quoins between base course
and 3rd floor cill band, 3rd floor with angle margins and
square windows. Eaves course; decorative cornice; end stacks;
slate roof.
Interior: Ionic-pilastered basket arch in hall; delicate
turned balusters, cut strings and decorative brackets.
Decorative cornice plasterwork, some concealed by suspended
ceilings.

Shown on 1st ed OS (1850) as Edinburgh and Glasgow Bank,

with quadrants to roadside, curved at porch and gated at S.
