Description

Circa 1900. 2-storey market office with symmetrical 5-bay

elevation to Whitesands; detached large, rectangular-plan

3-storey 7-bay warehouse block to NE. All built of stugged

red ashlar with polished dressings; piended roofs covered with

graded slates.

Office: ground floor openings round-headed, 1st floor windows square-headed. Doorway with consoled cornice in central and in

outer bays, latter now blocked, former with pediment also;

paired ground floor and bipartite 1st floor windows in

intermediate bays. Windows all plate glass sashes. Blocked

eaves; corniced end stack; ornamental ridging tiles.

Warehouse: wide entrance in 2-bay SW end wall; all windows

small-paned with projecting cills, and with louvred upper

lights.
