Description

James MacLaren circa 1860, 2-storey ashlar-fronted villa, rubble-built sides and rear.

S ELEVATION: centre 3-light round-headed window with balustrade and 2 single lights over with lugged architraves. End ground floor balustrade canted bays with bipartites over. Cornice and blocking course. Angle pilaster piers. Porch set back at left with round-arched doorpiece and balustraded parapet.

Piended slate roof, shouldered wallhead gable stacks. Sash and case windows, 2-pane glazing pattern.

Screen wall link to No 10 with curved parapet. Boundary walls, low at ashlar front, high rubble-built at rear.

Statement of Interest

For George Carmichael of J and C Carmichael and Sons, engineers. A mirror image of No 10 for brother David, except that No 10 lacks decoration.
