Description

1830-40. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay house fronting street. Dark

square whinstone frontage, painted tooled and polished ashlar dressings, rubble whinstone return gables. Centre pilastered and

corniced entrance; additional doorway in extreme left (SE) bay. Panelled aprons to ground floor windows; lst floor windows linked by wide bandcourse; single ground and lst floor window in return N gable. Late 19th century canted wallhead dormers in outer bays. Modern 2-pane glazing in ground floor windows, 12-pane in lst floor and plate glass and 4-pane in dormers. Deep moulded wallhead cornice; coped end stacks; flat skewputs. slate roof.

INTERIOR: simple moulded friezes in former dining room and hall. Fine decorative cast-iron balusters with anthemion design to staircase between ground and lst floors, simpler design to attic stair.
