Early 19th century, with later additions. 2-storey, 4-bay L-plan former mill house. Rubble. Painted margins to window openings.
W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: grouped 1-4. 2-leaf glazed timber entrance to left of 3-bay (early 19th century) section, single window aligned above at 1st floor; regular fenestration to remaining bays to right. Bipartite window at ground floor, single window at 1st floor to single bay advanced section (mid 19th century) to left.
S ELEVATION: central single window at ground floor.
N AND E ELEVATIONS: not seen 1999.
Plate glass and 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Slate roof; stone skews; gablehead and ridge stacks; circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
Mill house to adjacent former mill. Its name writes John Strawhorn, derives from its (supposed) construction by a company from Holland who bought a lead mine at Brown Carrick Hill.
