W Beattie Brown, 1913. Scottish Arts and Crafts style gate lodge, comprised of single storey block interlocked with 2-storey u-plan block with jettied 1st floor. Rubble pink sandstone with ashlar dressings; cavetto cornice. Doorway at centre to N in single storey block under loggia formed by eaves sweeping down across centre and to right, linking with 2-storey block; small-pane upper panel to door; timber piers and carved fleuron to fascia of loggia. Bowed 2-storey bay flanking to left with ground floor window bearing bronze memorial panel above. Return elevation to E with canted timber window at ground and 1st floor window with cavetto surround breaking eaves in shaped dormerhead. Later extension and addition of dormer window at rear. Small-pane glazing pattern in sash and case and casement windows. Grey-green slates.
QUADRANT WALLS AND PIERS: ashlar coped rubble quadrants. Corniced piers of channelled, squared rubble with polished panels.
GATES: decorative wrought-iron 2-leaf gates to drive and pedestrian gate flanking.
Bronze panel declares "This lodge and gates were erected by Andrew Fletcher who died June 1913. Architect W Beattie Brown who was killed in the Great War".
