Description

Later to late 18th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house, currently

flatted, sited on road junction at West Saltoun. Harl pointed

rubble, painted ashlar dressings.

S ELEVATION: 3 bays grouped towards centre; fanlit doorway, regular windows.

N ELEVATION: circular stairblock at centre with former window altered as doorway, with fanlight and stone stair added; former window blocked in brick; conical roof. Timber mullioned bipartite inserted at ground to left, small window close to stairblock at right; 1st floor windows in outer bays and additional window by stairblock to left.

E ELEVATION: small attic window in gablehead. 12-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows. Grey slates; skylights. Large end stacks, repaired in brick; ashlar coped skews with rolled skewputts.

RETAINING WALLS: probably 18th century. Rubble coped rubble retaining walls with pedestrian gateways.
