Earlier 19th century. 2-storey with attic, 3-bay rectangular-plan house forming part of terrace. Painted render. Base course; painted margins to openings.
NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central entrance; timber door with letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor. Regular fenestration to flanking bays, with exception of large ground floor shop window to left. Canted dormers to outer left and right at attic.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows; shop window at ground to outer left. Grey slate roof; broad coped stacks; circular cans. Cast iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
Cowanlea continues the line of small symmetrical elevations fronting Main Street. Its roof line is slightly lower than Nos 4 6A Main Street (see separate list description).
