Complex house of several dates, chiefly remodelling of early work. SE part reconstructed 1823 for John Inglis probably to his own designs, 2-storey 5-window to S. whin rubble with margins, slated, segmentally arched pilaster doorpiece, original knocker; W part remodelled or rebuilt after 1843, 6-window at 1st (one a built up door); office wing beyond with grotesque head skewput, gatepiers with reeded dome capping. Further alterations, 2-storey asymmetrical late Victorian addition at NE, James Maclaren & Sons.
C group Courtyard formed by original part of house and steading very picturesque. Not former item 850 Bankfoot Cottage derelict in 1969.
